Church Shouldnt Suck The Life Out Of You

Product Description

Using humor and frank honesty, Pastor Jim Minor describes how his own street outreach organization transformed from a vibrant, God-infused ministry into a conventional, “safe” church that almost sucked all the passion for ministry right out of him. Then, Jim explains how he got his passion back again. Who is this book for?Pastors and ministry leaders who have lost their focus and have grown to resent the ministries to which they have been calledThose in the pews who have lost the spark of their passion for God and find themselves merely going through the motions and “playing church”Non-churchgoers who stay away because they don’t want any part of a dry, lifeless religion that doesn’t make any difference in the worldIf you identify with any of those categories, this book is for you! Let Jim Minor cast a vision for what church can be. Discover that it’s possible to venture beyond the church walls, to interact with the lost and hurting, and to watch God do miracles in people’s lives. And in the process, church might even become fun and fulfilling once again.

About Jim Minor

Jim Minor has been preaching and teaching the good news of the kingdom for more than forty years. He is currently the senior pastor of The Harvest Church in Sarasota, Florida, which he planted with his wife, Peggy, in 1984. The church is an integrated congregation that has blessed tens of thousands of people with its outreach. The ministry includes Free Indeed Food Bank and Acts 5th Ave., sources of food and clothing for the needy. Jim also founded Harvest House, a residential, faith-based drug and alcohol treatment center for men, and Esther's Place, a similar center for women. The 130-bed capacity is always filled to overflowing. Another 120 beds in apartments and single-family homes are filled with formerly homeless mothers with children. Recently, local Sarasota authorities asked The Harvest Church to be one of the lead agencies in providing housing for the homeless population on the west coast of Florida. Jim and Peggy have five children and six grandchildren, all of whom are serving the Lord with their parents in Sarasota.
