Melanie Hemry
A former intensive care nurse, Melanie Hemry traded in her stethoscope for a computer and now writes poignant true life stories, many of which are set in intensive care. A 1988 winner of the coveted Guideposts Writing Contest, Melanie's stories have warmed the hearts of readers around the world. She holds a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master's degree in Practical Ministry from Wagner Leadership Institute in Colorado Springs.
Before fully pursuing her writing career, Hemry spent fifteen years in the medical field as a registered nurse and B.S.N. For four of those years, she served as a short-term missionary in Jamaica and was awarded a permanent nursing license by the Jamaican Nursing Council. For five years she served as the supervisor of the coronary care unit.
As a regular writer for Guideposts Magazine and various Kenneth Copeland Ministries publications such as Believer's Voice of Victory, Hemry's unique ability to capture the hearts and minds of her readers is one that has propelled her ministry to new levels.
Hemry has ghostwritten several books-two of which have won Angel Awards. She has also written for several print and online publications such as Focus on the Family, TalkToAction.org, Voice of the Covenant, and Winners Way. In addition to her extensive writing experience, Hemry regularly teaches on prayer and personal experience writing.
Melanie and her husband, Ken, are the parents of two grown daughters, Heather and Lauren, and reside in Edmond, Oklahoma.
